Everyone knows a WellMOM. She struggles on a daily basis under a tremendous amount of stress. Devoted to her children, she strives to make ends meet and provide all she can for her family but sadly cannot afford health insurance and does not qualify for state assistance.
Single mothers and their children are among the poorest and
most severely distressed in our nation. Single mothers face the pressures of raising a child or children alone; they live on the earnings of one person combined with any transfers for which they are eligible; many have relatively low levels of education compared to the general population(adjusting for age). All of these lifestyle factors indicate that they are likely to have a greater probability of developing health problems than other persons of similar age For many of these women employment does not offer adequate health insurance coverage for themselves or their children. Those single mothers who have a disabled or a special needs child, whom often require increased or considerable medical care needs and expenditures, are at an additional disadvantage. The WellMOM Foundation is about
instilling hope, forgiveness, prayer, and tapping into the power of God to bind
up the broken heart and use it all for his glory. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and empower single mothers with the resources to foster a safe, healthy, and enriched lifestyle for their families through access to quality, comprehensive health care, health education and mental health counseling.
WellMOM connects these single moms with other mothers who are also facing the challenges of single parenting in a faith based, Christ centered community. These mothers, many dealing with abuse, poverty and despair, often feel marginalized. Having someone they can relate to takes a lot of the frustration and loneliness away and gives these women hope and a sense of belonging. Our services improve the ability of these families to care for their children and achieve goals of self-sufficiency. . To qualify for services, you must be a single, mother/parent who does not qualify for state health assistance and must meet federally defined income levels. Whether you're a single parent, a health care practitioner, or a concerned member of our community, learn how you can be a part of WellMOM.
Mothers In Need How To Help About Us A mother's love begins Before the child is born And lasts through time And difficulties And differences And many wounds And days of joy And days of sorrow Winding, wearing Weeping, sharing Changing Until, at the end What remains Is that solid core That began as love Before the child was born. --- Anonymous |
